Much of the conversation around the incoming of the revamped Les Misérables production to the West End has revolved around the revolve a?' or lack thereof. But this slicker touring version (first seen in 2009, for the 25th anniversary) is a beautiful fit for Cameron Mackintosh's marvellously refurbished Sondheim Theatre, and the show's indelible score and stirring human drama are, if anything, showcased more strongly than ever.

Matt Lucas stepped in to play the role of Thénardier for a few weeks when Gerard Carey was unable to perform before the first preview of the new production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre last month due to vocal injury caused by contracting pneumonia. Last week Lucas regrettably sustained a back injury which has meant he is unable to continue in the role.

As rehearsals begin for Les Miserables -The Staged Concert, Cameron Mackintosh introduces Shan Ako and Lily Kerhoas who complete the principal casting as Eponine and Cosette respectively. They join the previously announced Michael Ball as Javert, Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean, Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine, Matt Lucas as Thenardier, Rob Houchen as Marius, Bradley Jaden as Enjolras, Katy Secombe as Madame Thenardier and, for three performances a week, John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean.

The Stephen Sondheim Society and Mercury Musical Developments today announce West End Musical Director Gareth Valentine as the final judge for the 2019 Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year (SSSSPOTY), alongside the previously announced Julia McKenzie, Peter Polycarpou, and Edward Seckerson. Lyricist Charles Hart and Olivier Award-winner Jenna Russell join Nkeki Obi-Melekwe and Stiles + Drewe to complete the judging panel for the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize. Winners will be announced at Theatre Royal Haymarket on Sunday 9 June.

SEASONS The Musical, written by American award winning composer Elaine Pechacek and co-writer Katie Hammond, is set to debut in the first ever Paris Fringe Festival. The Festival runs May 23rd - 29th at the Theatre des Feux de La Rampe and will feature over 20 shows. SEASONS, having won Best of Fest out of 100+ shows in the Orlando, Florida Fringe Festival in 2014, is honored to be one of only three musicals featured in the inaugural Paris Fringe Festival. The series will feature for the first time in France composer Elaine Pechacek, who will come from Orlando for the occasion to present a selection of songs from her award-winning musicals SEASONS, DELAYED (both with lyrics by Katie Hammond) and THE LADY JULIANA, which was recently premiered in Australia.
